Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Even without a finished specification, we can begin by helping you define the scope, plan the work and establish the expected results before development starts.

We follow a structured, gate-based approach that keeps quality and transparency high throughout. Complex challenges are broken down and handled step by step, so the project stays under control from the first phase to delivery.

We use our own detailed EKTOS Design project model, a gate-based workflow where each phase is reviewed and approved before the next one begins.

Yes. For software it is essential in today’s market. We apply Agile and SCRUM where it fits, especially for software-heavy projects, and combine it with traditional models where that serves the project better.

We use an internal project system that keeps all project data organised and shared in one place, and we adapt to the communication tools your team already uses.

Yes. EKTOS works with your preferred channel for both communication and data sharing.

We work across a range of CAD tools depending on the task, including Altium Designer, PADS, OrCAD and KiCAD.

Yes. We use established open-source platforms and libraries such as FreeRTOS where they add value, alongside open-source tools in our development environment. Any OSS used in your product is listed in the product documentation, including frameworks and licences.

Open-source components are analysed and verified throughout the development process. Security is addressed as part of the development cycle, and the relevant information is included in the BOM and the documentation handed over to you.

We choose the platform that best fits your product and its cost target, from low-cost microcontrollers to high-performance Cortex cores.

We pre-select and, where needed, pre-source key components early, and run component risk and longevity checks so sourcing for production is as smooth as possible. Global component availability is outside our control, but we plan for it from the start.

Yes, sourced from reliable or authorised platforms. Our first priority is generally EU and US components, with other sources used where it makes sense for your product.

We work across the common wireless stacks, including Zigbee, Z-Wave, LoRa, Wi-Fi, Thread, Matter and Bluetooth, with a strong focus on power-efficient, cost-effective RF solutions. We can support your product from concept through prototyping.

We can help select and design the right wireless technology for your case. BLE / Bluetooth is often a strong choice, and we also work with longer-range and satellite IoT connectivity where the application calls for it.

For low- to mid-complexity products, our technical team typically needs about a week to prepare a work breakdown structure and the basis for a proposal.
